NEW DELHI: Broadcast tribunal TDSAT has refused the plea of TV Vision, promoters of the music channels ‘Mastiii’, to stay the Direct-to-Home operator TataSky from adding any new channel to its platform. TDSAT’s interim order came over a petition filed by TV Vision requesting the tribunal to direct TataSky to distribute its channel through its DTH platform. Telecom tribunal TDSAT has held that sports broadcaster Neo Sports is entitled to 7 per cent increase in subscription fee for its channels from ADAG group firm Reliance Big TV, which provides Direct-to-Home service. “Petitioner (Neo Sports) is entitled to 7 per cent increase on the subscription fee on and from January 1, 2009,” said a TDSAT bench headed by its Chairman Justice S B Sinha. NEW DELHI: Broadcast tribunal TDSAT has directed ESPN to enter into a new a commercial agreement with Dish TV based on RIO that specifies terms for DTH operators to get signals from broadcasters. “The petition of Dish TV is allowed. NEW DELHI: Broadcast tribunal TDSAT has dismissed the plea of Media Pro to hear it as a party in the dispute between DTH operator Dish TV and the global sports broadcaster ESPN on their subscription agreement. Media Pro Enterprise is a 50:50 joint venture between the Star Den and Zee Turner. The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) today refused interim relief to DTH operator Dish TV, which had requested for direction to sports broadcaster ESPN to raise bills in accordance with the reference interconnect offer (RIO) of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). New Delhi: Direct-to-Home operator Dish TV has approached broadcast tribunal TDSAT seeking a direction to broadcaster ESPN to give signals of its sports channels in accordance with the reference interconnect offer (RIO) as mandated by the regulator TRAI. RIO is a document that specifies commercial terms for DTH operators to get signals from broadcasters as per norms laid down by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). NEW DELHI: The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (Tdsat) has said Prasar Bharati is ‘best equipped’ to decide which channel should form part of its DTH bouquet so as to attract viewers and at the same time discharge its duties under Section 12 of the Prasar Bharati Act. This right of Prasar Bharati cannot be defeated for the petty commercial gains of any channels, Tdsat said, disposing off two similar petitions.
