NOIDA, India; May 16, 2012 – Dish TV India Limited (Dishtv) (BSE: 532839, NSE: DISHTV) today reported fourth quarter fiscal 2012 audited standalone revenues of Rs. 5,247 million, recording 21.2% growth over the corresponding period last fiscal. EBITDA of Rs. 1,442 million registered a significant 59.9% increase over the corresponding quarter last fiscal. EBITDA margin for the quarter stood at 27.5%. NEW DELHI: Direct to home (DTH) service provider Dish TV India Ltd is focusing on new customer acquisition, high definition technology and digitisation to strengthen its position in the highly competitive DTH market. “In the next one year, our agenda for growth is to acquire new customers and take the benefit of digitisation,” Dish TV Managing Director Jawahar Goel told PTI. The Madras High Court has stayed a Tamil Nadu government decision to levy 30 per cent entertainment tax on direct-to-home services in the state. A single-judge bench issued the order in response to a petition filed by Dish TV, the country’s largest DTH operator. The Noida-based satellite television firm was aggrieved about a Bill the state administration recently passed, levying a 30 per cent entertainment tax on DTH operators from September 27 this year. Dish TV revenue to dip 0.25% more with TN govt’s e-tax move

The Tamil Nadu government imposed 30% entertainment tax (e–tax) on direct to home (DTH) operators. Jawahar Goel, managing director of Dish TV said that their revenues are impacted almost 7% because of the entertainment tax across the country. “With the E-Tax imposed by the Tamil Nadu government, the revenues will be impacted a quarter percent more,” he told CNBC-TV18 in an interview. Dish TV’s last quarter EBITDA was in the range of 24-26%. Goel further indicated that the company will improve their EBITDA by 1.5-2% every quarter. Here is the edited transcript of his interview.
