HC junks Tata Sky plea against ESPN on Fifa HD feed
New Delhi: The move to obtain the high-definition (HD) feed of Fifa World Cup from rights holder ESPN Star Sports by Tata Sky on non-discriminatory basis has met a dead end after the Delhi High Court dismissed its writ petition on Thursday stating Tata Sky was not ready with the infrastructure to provide HD channels. Tata Sky adds five new channels
DTH services provider, Tata Sky Ltd, has launched five new TV channels on its platform. It now offers a mix of niche lifestyle, music and entertainment that includes Fox Crime, FX, Sangeet Bangla, Kasthuri and DD Sapthagiri, according to a press release. Tata Sky has also announced a range of introductory packages for new subscribers. With the forthcoming FIFA 2010 World Cup, Tata Sky is offering ESPN and Star Sports free of cost to all new subscribers for a period of two months, from June 2. Dishtv launches its high-definition service – Dish Tru HD
The DTH (direct-to-home) player, Dishtv has launched its high-definition (HD) service – Dish Tru HD. Among DTH service providers, Sun Network and Reliance Big TV already provide the HD service. Announcing the launch of the service, Jawahar Goel, managing director, Dishtv said, “In other parts of the world such as the US, DTH players offer high-definition service to viewers.
