I&B seeks status info from community radio applicants
NEW DELHI:All applicants who have signed Grant of Permission Agreement (GoPA) or received letters of intent (LoI) for setting up Community Radio Stations have been asked to furnish up-to-date information on their status. In separate notices issues to those who have signed GoPA or received LoI, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has said they must furnish information relating to name of applicant, location of the station, date of GoPA or LoI respectively, date of application to WPC Wing, date of receipt of frequency allocation, and date of commission of station (as applicable). Community radio station to start at Uttarakhand
NEW DELHI: The government has granted permission to set up a new community radio station at “The Energy Resources Institute” in District Mukteshwar of Uttarakhand. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has signed a Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating the Community Radio Station (CRS). The Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of the Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC). Govt finalising FM phase III policy soon: Soni
NEW DELHI: The government is in the process of finalising the FM Radio Phase III policy soon, according to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni. “This was being done to further liberalise the regulatory framework to provide for greater diversity of content and bring down operational costs. It will also incentivise the introduction of FM radio services in the North Eastern States, Jammu and Kashmir and island territories,” Soni said. Community radio stations to launch in UP and MP
MUMBAI: The Saijyoti Gramodhyog Samaj Seva Sansthan and Sambhav Social Service Organization will set up their community radio station in Lalitpur (UP) and Shivpuri (MP) respectively within an estimated three months time. According to a government release, the ministry of Information and Broadcasting has signed Grant of Permission Agreements (GoPA) to establish CR stations in Lalitpur (UP) and Shivpuri (MP) with Saijyoti Gramodhyog Samaj Seva Sansthan, Lalitpur, and Sambhav Social Service Organization, Gwalior. Govt rules out any financial help for community radio
NEW DELHI: The government on Tuesday ruled out any proposal to provide financial support to educational institutions and other organisations to launch community radio stations. Parliament was informed that a total of 48 Community Radio stations were functioning in 16 states and union territories at present, which included 42 started by educational institutions and six by non-governmental organizations.
