MUMBAI: Videocon Industries expects to add one million direct-to-home (DTH) subscribers in the next three months, a top official said on Wednesday. The firm recently crossed the two-million-subscriber figure recently, Anil Khera, chief executive, mobile phone and D2H business, told reporters. India likely to surpass US in terms of DTH subscriber base

MUMBAI: Strong growth of the domestic direct-to-home (DTH) broadcast market may soon catapult India into the No. 1 position globally in terms of the largest DTH subscriber base, ahead of the US, an industry official said. As of June 30 this year, India had 23.5 million DTH subscribers. “As at June-end, the DTH subscriber base in India stood at 23.5 million, which is equivalent to the size of the markets in other countries.
