MUMBAI: Videocon d2h has agreed to carry the high definition (HD) feed of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The DTH operator has inked a deal with MSM Discovery to broadcast the IPL on Max, the official broadcaster of the popular T20 league, in HD. Govt & Trai should act on time if digitisation deadline is to be met: Stakeholders
NEW DELHI: Participants at a one-day meet to discuss the march towards digitisation agreed that there would be no difficulty in meeting the deadlines if the government and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) complete their tasks in time. However, some of the members speaking in different sessions of the Casbaa meet ‘Beyond digital’ did not rule out the possibility of digitisation getting entangled in litigation if adequate steps were not taken till May, since the deadline is 30 June for the first phase covering the four metros. Friday, March 02, 2012: The recent amendment to Section 4A of the Cable Regulation Act, 1995, legalizes an ordinance issued in October this year for implementing mandatory addressable digitization (MAD) throughout the country in phases starting June 30, 2012. The bill mandates complete digitization in the four metros of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai by June 30, 2012. Digitization means that there will not be any analog signals as these signals will be switched off after the cut off date. The local cable operator will not be able to beam any analog signals. India to have 1.2 mn HD subscribers on DTH by fiscal-end
MUMBAI: India will have 1.2 million HD subscribers on DTH by the end of this fiscal, industry experts said here today. Pricing is a sticky issue but aggressive marketing will push the demand for HD channels. Demonstrating the success of Movies Now, Media Network and Distribution Network India CEO and MD Yogesh Radhakrishnan said the idea for an HD channel came in 2007.
