Red FM Launches 47th Radio Station in Gangtok
Red FM, one of India’s largest commercial radio networks with 46 stations across India, is pleased to announce the launch of its new service in Gangtok which will be the 47th Radio Station. Community radio station to start at Uttarakhand
NEW DELHI: The government has granted permission to set up a new community radio station at “The Energy Resources Institute” in District Mukteshwar of Uttarakhand. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has signed a Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating the Community Radio Station (CRS).
Rana Barua quits Radio City
MUMBAI: Radio City EVP and national head programming Rana Barua has called it a day. Currently servicing his notice period, Barua was associated with Radio City for four years. Confirming the news, Barua says, “Yes, I have put in my papers at Radio City. I am still weighing my options as to where I will head next.”
Radio City 91.1 enters audio books segment
Another player has entered the fledgling audio books category in the country. In a new business initiative, FM channel Radio City 91.1 FM has launched the City of Tales brand of audio books. The other notable player in this segment is the Chennai-based Karadi Tales, part of ACK Media which owns the Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle brands of books and comics based largely on Indian culture.
Govt finalising FM phase III policy soon: Soni
NEW DELHI: The government is in the process of finalising the FM Radio Phase III policy soon, according to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni. “This was being done to further liberalise the regulatory framework to provide for greater diversity of content and bring down operational costs. It will also incentivise the introduction of FM radio services in the North Eastern States, Jammu and Kashmir and island territories,” Soni said.

Radio City enters cyber space with live online radio
MUMBAI: Music Broadcast Private Limited (MBPL) owned radio venture Radio City has ventured into the internet radio space with a live online radio christened ‘Fun ka antenna’. Although many FM radio stations in India have their presence on the web, Radio City could well stake claim to becoming the first Indian radio station to stream live music over the web.
