High-definition content is the next level for DTH
The country’s largest direct-to-home (DTH) operator, Dish TV, with 7.3 million subscribers, has now launched high definition DTH service offering five high-definition (HD) channels. Dishtv launches its high-definition service – Dish Tru HD
The DTH (direct-to-home) player, Dishtv has launched its high-definition (HD) service – Dish Tru HD. Among DTH service providers, Sun Network and Reliance Big TV already provide the HD service. Announcing the launch of the service, Jawahar Goel, managing director, Dishtv said, “In other parts of the world such as the US, DTH players offer high-definition service to viewers. A few Indian players are also currently offering the service. Dish TV: FIFA WC 2010 on HD for Indian fans

DTH: Excise penalty slapped on Tata, Airtel
Three months after the government amended the Delhi Entertainment and Betting tax to levy entertainment tax on direct-to-home (DTH) television services, two major players — Tata Sky and Bharti Airtel — are not paying the government its dues. Tata Sky has even challenged the amendment in the High Court. In notices sent to both service providers on Tuesday, the Excise department has now slapped a penalty of 25 per cent of the total tax due. Tata Sky has been asked to pay Rs 1.5 crore, while Bharti Airtel has to pay Rs 18 lakh. If the firms continue to ignore the notice from the Excise department, »»»

MUMBAI: The Shah Rukh Khan starrer My Name Is Khan will be telecast across all Direct To Home (DTH) platforms namely Tata Sky, Dish TV, Sun Direct, Airtel Digital TV, Videocon D2H and Big TV.
