Airtel launches 1 Mbps IPTV service
Source: The Hindu Business Line New Delhi, Sept. 29 Airtel’s IPTV consumers can now enjoy a much better service with broadband speeds of 1 Mbps. The Internet Protocol TV service, offering triple play or telephone, broadband and television services on a single line, is currently available in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida. The new faster connection “Magic@Home Freedom” will be available for a monthly subscription of Rs 1,899. The “Magic@Home Turbo” package, costing Rs 1,499 a month, runs at 512 kbps during the day, but gets doubled to 1 Mbps during nights. Airtel’s IPTV service was launched »»»

BIG TV lines up 5 new Telugu channels for subscribers in AP

Additionally the firm is also offering a new package targeted towards the Southern market offering 120 channels including 15 channels from the Sun Network. EchoStar looking at India’s DTH?

A story in the Economic Times quotes two unamed senior executives with DTH companies as saying that Echostar has “revived” its interest in the market. Echostar has previously held talks with DTH platforms over strategic partnerships but nothing has eventuated. The report states that one option might be for EchoStar to take a “strategic stake” in an Indian DTH operator.
