The news is that the government may allow private radio channels to broadcast news sourced from agencies like PTI and UNI.

The private radio broadcasters in the country are demanding the government permission to air the news bulletins from a long period.

As per the sources in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the government is sincerly taking into account the whole issue.

Confirming the news, a top official of I & B Ministry said: “The matter is still under consideration.”

Currently, over 100 FM radio channels are operating in the country.

The Akashvani or All India Radio is the single news broadcaster among the radio channels in the country.

It is believed that the permission to private FM to air the news would break the dullness of the government-owned Akashvani.
