MUMBAI: Big TV, the DTH service provider from Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), has set out its summer plans for its subscribers.
Available at Rs 1490 and Rs 1790, Big TV has announced this as the power-packed entertainment package for this summer.
The Rs 1490 package is a basic promotional offer that enables Big TV customers to buy channels ranging from Rs 98 to Rs 465 a month.
The Rs 1790 package, on the other hand, comes with free subscription along with a regional pack that is free for the first three months. Customers subscribed for the Rs 1790 pack can purchase add-on packs to view other channels after three months.
“We have added three NDTV channels for the Rs 1790 offer. This goes to show that at all times, Big TV stands for the benefit of its customers,” said Reliance communication president Mahesh Prasad.
As part of their promotional offer, Big TV has uprooted their subscription pack of Rs 2490 by giving four months free subscription and one month free subscription video-on- demand (SVOD).
BIG TV’s promotional packages come with the MPEG4 technology, 200+ channels, 32 cinema channels, sales and after-sales network.

Transmission of signals delayed by 2 sec on all MPEG 4 based DTH
Dear Friends, on saturday while waching IPL matches i came to notice one important thing that Airtel dth will have a delay of 2 seconds in live IPL matches. and its fast in dishtv by 2 seconds.
So next day i went to one dealer’s shop in evening and checked in all the dth and found that not only airtel but infact all the DTH working on mpeg 4 are having delay of 2 seconds. like Airtel BIGTV AND Sundirect they all are showing match telecast 2 seconds late then dishtv.
Then i asked the dealer why thier is delay in Airtel, bigtv and Sun direct as compared to Dishtv then he replied its because of mpeg4 uses heavy compressionwhich will take more processing time and also the file has to be decompressed also there fore their is a delay in this.
This shows still MPEG2 is much better then MPEG 4.
