Dish TV CEO Vinay Agarwal quits
Source: Indiantelevision.com MUMBAI: Dish TV India CEO Vinay Agarwal has quit the organisation, leaving at a time when the Zee group’s demerged DTH company has accumulated close to five million subscribers to stay as market leader. Agarwal joined Dish TV in June 2008, after the exit of Arun Kapoor who joined Reliance ADAG’s Big TV as head. Kapoor has come back to Essel Group but is looking after Wire & Wireless India Ltd (WWIL), the cable company, and Zee Turner, the distribution company with Turner as a 26 per cent stake holder in the joint venture. ...
Ajay Puri to head Airtel digital TV from April 1

Syed Safawi, executive director, Bharti Airtel – North has been promoted as executive director for the East and West regions. The need to sustain during the sudden cut throat competition by means of slashing their rates and the resultant loss incurred in the process is reported to have compelled the operators to restore to the earlier rates. DTH retailers also feel the exam fever!
Source: The Hindu Business Line New Delhi, March 23 As the seventh direct-to-home service player, Videocon, gets ready to launch its service, parents are turning spoilsports — they are refusing buy until school exams are over. This has slowed direct-to-home service sales; retailers of DTH services say that sales are down more than 50 per cent in March, mainly due to the exams, and partly due to the economic slowdown. “Subscriber acquisition has slowed 30-40 per cent after November,” says an industry source.
