Source: The Statesman KOLKATA, Jan. 24: After having failed to provide the much hyped additional services over the past few years, most of the Direct-to-Home (DTH) television service providers have now reduced installation charges as well as monthly subscription fees to woo consumers. Currently, consumers can avail DTH service by paying just Rs 100 per month. A few months back, monthly subscription fees of DTH was about Rs 140. Many service providers even reduced installation charge, which include cost of set top box (STB) and other equipment from Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,500 in the span of three months. »»»

Source: Indiantelevision.com MUMBAI: Dish TV promoters have lifted their stake to 80.15 per cent after having to subscribe to the rights issue in a tough market condition that saw the scrip of the DTH company trading below the issue price fixed at Rs 22 per share. The promoters, who earlier held 57.94 per cent in the direct-to-home (DTH) company, had to cough out around Rs 3 billion in the first tranche. “The promoters have increased their stake to 80.15 per cent and have put in around Rs 3 billion,” says a source in the company. Dish TV, the market leader with 4.8 million subscribers, has reported a 72 per cent jump in gross sales and operating revenues to Rs 1.93 billion for the quarter under review, compared to Rs 1.12 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
