Big TV claims 15 % market share with one mn subscribers within 90 days of launch

Reliance Communications’ DTH services subsidiary, Big TV announced that it has registered one million subscribers and thereby captured 15 percent of the market within 90 days of launch of the services.

“We attribute this success to the faith of millions of Indian consumers in the Reliance brand. Our customer-centric approach coupled with advanced technology, superior product & service with a wide distribution and installation service network spanning the country helped BIG TV cross the million milestone in such a short span of time,” said Mahesh Prasad, President, Reliance Communications.

The company has, also couple of days back, announced massive retail expansion to push its DTH services in the country.

The DTH segment in India has suddenly become competitive with biggies comprising of Essel Group’s Dish TV with 4.5 million subscriber base followed by Tata Sky which claims to have around 3 million subscribers. Big TV’s figures, if true, will certainly add more spice to the competition.

    dishtv is still leading with 53% market share and with 4.5 million subscriber base. also last month dishtv have added 4.3 lakh new customers beating all previous records of new subscriber addition by any DTH.
