Even as new players like Airtel and Big TV are making a high-decibel entry into the DTH (direct to home) television market, Tata Sky has taken the battle to the next level by introducing the Tata Sky+ service in the market.
The launch was announced at a media conference in Mumbai by Tata Sky MD & CEO Vikram Kaushik, along with brand ambassador Aamir Khan.
Tata Sky Ltd., the JV between the Tata Group and Star, revealed that viewers can literally pause time until one they are ready to move on, with the new Tata Sky+ service that uses the breakthrough personal video recorder (PVR) technology for the first time in the Indian subcontinent.
The new DTH platform combines style with a range of unique in-built functionalities that offer a viewer the power to plan and control his TV viewing experience with features such as Record Live TV and Pause and Rewind Live TV.
Speaking on the launch of TATA Sky +, Kaushik said, “TATA Sky had revolutionised the TV viewing experience in India by spearheading the introduction of innovative interactive services covering cooking, matrimonial classifieds, learning games and the introduction of its unique bi-lingual programming guide. This time we chose to capitalise on our partnership with Sky, the global leader in the DTH technology to bring another first to India, PVR. This technology will not only help your subscribers to time-shift their TV-viewing with the Record and Playback features, but also give them the convenience to enjoy uninterrupted TV with the Pause and Rewind live TV features.”
Going “jingalala” about the launch of TATA Sky+, a delighted Aamir Khan said, “TATA Sky has revolutionised TV entertainment in India and I am happy to be a part of something that is the frontier of change. With the launch of TATA Sky+, they have once again reiterated their commitment to deliver nothing short of the best. As someone with a hectic schedule, I usually miss out on many of my favorite programmes on TV, but not anymore. TATA Sky+ ensures that TV simply fits in to my life by allowing me the flexibility to record my favorite programmes and watch them at leisure. I truly believe that Isko laga dala, toh life aur bhi jingalala.”
The TATA Sky+ digicomp has MPEG 4 technology, a hard disk and an in-built personal video recorder (PVR). The PVR enables the viewer to pause & rewind live TV as well as record up to 45 hours of live TV. With TATA Sky+ you can:
Pause Live TV
Very often, during the most exciting over in a cricket match you might be interrupted by a doorbell or a phone call and you miss out on a few master strokes. Now, all you need to do is press pause on your remote. The live match will be paused. You can resume watching the match from where you let off when you are ready.
Rewind Live TV
While watching a movie, if you missed a dialogue, just press rewind on your remote and watch the dialogue again. With TATA Sky+ you will never miss a minute of any programme on TV.
Record
If a nail biting India-Australia final coincides with your favorite TV soap, you need not keep switching between two channels. At the press of a button, you can record your favorite soap and enjoy the live match. Then, you can playback the recorded programme at a time convenient to you. You can even fast forward or rewind the programme during playback, if you wish. TATA Sky+ also gives you the flexibility to record two live shows simultaneously. You can even set an entire series for automatic recording, at the press of a button. Everything from the elegant black and red look and chassis construction to the STB down to input accessibility and the remote control are specifically engineered to provide an incredible TV viewing experience.
Priced at Rs 8,999/-, TATA Sky+ would be rolled out in phased manner across the country.
