Reliance Big TV to increase number of channels to 400
Source: The Times of India MUMBAI: Reliance Big TV, an RComm subsidiary, will soon boost its bouquet of television channels on its DTH platform from 200 to 400, Chairman of RComm Anil Ambani said at the AGM of the company on Tuesday. At present, most DTH operators are able to offer about 175 channels to their subscribers. Ambani said the company will also offer IPTV services in major cities in near future. He said the company has entered into an exclusive technology tie up with Microsoft for this purpose. He said India has the largest and fastest growing markets for pay television in the world. »»»

Prasar Bharati moves Supreme Court over carriage of channels on its DTH platform
Source: Indiantelevision.com NEW DELHI: Prasar Bharati has moved the Supreme Court as it does not want to carry Zee Smile, Zee Jagran and ETC Music, Total TV and Chardhikala Time TV on its DD Direct Plus DTH platform. Earlier on 23 September, the double bench judge of the Delhi High Court had allowed Prasar Bharati to charge Rs 6 million as its carriage amount, a move that was hotly contested by some broadcsaters. The court has also directed the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (Tdsat) to dispose the following petition within a month’s time from the date of passed order. Prasar »»»
Bharti’s DTH service in first week of October
Source: The Hindu Business Line NEW DELHI: Bharti group is likely to soft launch its direct-to-home service in the first week of October. The company, according to industry sources, is hoping to get an FIPB approval before that. Market sources said the sales team has sounded out October 8 as the launch date. A Bharti spokesperson said the company does not comment on market speculation, while adding “we have said we will launch our DTH service by this year”.
