TN Arasu cable TV to begin telecast from tomorrow

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said the monthly cable TV charges for those subscribing to the feed from the government-owned Arasu Cable TV corporation, which would be beaming transmision from tomorrow, would not exceed Rs 100.

The corporation would provide feed to the people in Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Tiruchirapalli districts from tomorrow.

The corporation was being started to help the people, who had been paying monthly charges ranging from Rs.150 to Rs.300 per month.As government got lot of complaints from the people about being charged excessively, it decided to start the corporation, he wrote in DMK’s mouthpiece ‘Murasoli.
‘When the government launches a new initiative,there will some teething problems.One of the problems is the collection of fee.That is why the government has said that the fee should not exceed Rs 100 per month’, he said.

But the monthly charges might change for Chennai, which came under the conditional access system, he said adding those, who did not use the setup boxes, should not be charged more than Rs.100 per month.The charge would differ from person to person for those who used set up boxes as they would be charged according to number of channels they preferred,he said
